Originally from Rabat, Morocco, Leila is a recent Honors graduate of American University’s School of International Service, and is currently pursuing her studies at Georgetown University in Washington DC. Leila is a strong advocate for human rights and women’s rights. Her volunteer work through various University campus organizations and as the Director of the United Nations Youth for International Cooperation International Law group, United Nations fellow, and founder of a global youth network is testimony of her dedication.
At only 19, Leila became one of the youngest interns at the World Bank and acquired hands-on experience on international development issues. Leila is currently a young professional in the World Bank, Africa Region, and the President of the World Bank Women for Development Group. Leila is also the winner of the World Bank Middle East and North Africa Youth Innovation Fund. Leila has always been disconcerted by the social disparities and the poverty due to underdevelopment that persists in developing countries. She has been solicited, many times, to represent the voice of the Moroccan youth in the United States. Leila has published several academic papers and articles.
